ALLOTMENT NEWS

RENT A PLOT

Half plots are available NOW at £16 per annum. So if you fancy a go at ‘Growing Your Own’ please contact Dennis on site.manager@capelallotments.co.uk.

AUTUMN WORK-IN

The final work-in of the year starts at 9am on Sunday 8th October. Refreshments provided. Hedge trimming, grass cutting, post replacing, soil shifting: painting & any other task we can find. We will give you a discount on your plot rental & the afternoon off !!!

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is just £5 per annum. If your would like to join the Association please log on to our web site at www.capelallotments.co.uk where you will find an application form. We will be collecting subscriptions and plot rentals over the next few weeks.

THE HUT-Winter Closing

We remain open 10-12 noon on Saturdays throughout October for our members and then you will need to phone Graham for all your gardening requirements - Fleece at 30p a meter, Bubble plastic (£2), in fact our full range of garden products and tools and other sundry items such as :- 25 kg  of Water softener salt for £8.50, 3 kg Wild Bird Seed £1.50 & 2 kg Pea Nuts £3.50

SAVE ££££££££’s - AUTUMN SEED SCHEME

If you regularly buy vegetable and flower seeds from us you will know that this scheme can bring you huge savings on normal retail prices which can save you several ££££’s.Your seed potato orders need to be with us by the 15th October PAPER seed orders by 5th  November to Phil or online as soon as you are ready after contacting Phil for your personal access discount code.

ROTOVATOR AND CULTIVATOR HIRE

A rotovator and a cultivator are available for hire for on site use only. The fee is £10 for the first 2 hours. To hire this equipment please give Dennis as much notice as possible or for any matters relating to the site please contact Dennis.

Show 2017

40th Annual Flower and Produce Show

This year was up there with our best ever shows. New exhibitors generating great competition. Over 650 exhibits. Amazing mammoth veg. loads of entries from children, handcrafters & flower arrangers. Wow, thanks to all our brilliant exhibitors and all of our sponsors who allow us to continue & expand.

Congratulations to Our Prize Draw Winners who shared over £800 of prizes:- Mark Ward, Sam Warner, Ann Warner, T Smy, Mr Scott, Mrs B Rawthorne, Lewis Tyler, Celia Warr, Mr E Blacksell, Jane Sago, Ray Burwood, Brenda Green, Mr Subner, Sue Carpendale, E Titshell, Bill Cole & Lynn Knowles. The bottle of Whisky was at Doncaster Rovers Football Club & was won by Eddie Cox. The Teddy Bear’s name was Olivia & was won by Iris Stock.

And congratulations to all those who won one of the 150+ ‘Hearts Game’ prizes. Thank you for supporting the Show.

Thanks for all your surplus veg, fruit and flowers. We were able to send 8 trays of veg to the food bank and 10 table arrangements to Blackbrook care home. Both parties were extremely grateful. FIND are struggling to fill the shelves at the food bank and would appreciate food, furniture or cash donations. Families In Need helps those living in Ipswich and surrounding areas that are deprived of a minimum standard of living.
